The Hollywood Bowl season is starting next week and so is my quest for good and easy picnic. (Just an aside, I met Kirk a couple of years ago at the Hollywood Bowl.) Does anyone have any suggestions?

Here's my shot at my 1st picnic of the season:

Appetizer: Gazpacho Salsa

Main Course:
Spinach and Tomato Salad
Sweet Potato and Poblano Salad
Lime-Curry-Rubbed Hangar Steak

I don't want to take credit for creating these recipes because I found them on the Epicurious website.

That's a tough menu to improve upon, Marla. My experience with eating at the bowl is that portability and convenience is king, especially if you're not sitting in a box. I always love a great sandwich. Ooh, I know. How about the Muffuletta Sandwich that I posted on this site? Heck, you could even take that Hangar steak and turn it into a sandwich. I'm thinking a ciabatta roll, wild arugula, and dab of garlic mayo. The sweet potato salad sounds great. The spinach salad will wilt unless you dress it there, but that may not be very convenient. You may wanna think about changing it out for a sturdier salad. How bout a simple Greek salad? Let me know if I'm on to anything here.
Thanks for the ideas, Kirk. I agree with portability and I also thought about dishes that can be served at room temp. I will check out your Muffuletta sandwich. I chose the Spinach Salad because everything else has "big" tastes and I wanted something simple that would complement but not compete.

Wraps are good for the Bowl, also. My second picnic menu includes a Southwest Chicken Wrap and a Caesar Salad.
I'm feeling inspired. Thanks for the idea. :-)
